Obituary of Shirley Canter

SHIRLEY CANTER 1925-2011 Shirley Peck Canter, age 86 of West Palm Beach, Florida, formerly of Albany, NY died on Wednesday evening, April 6, 2011 at Hospice of Palm Beach County in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Shirley was an Albany resident most of her life. She was a life member of Hadassah and Abigail # 3 UOTS in Albany. Shirley had also been the Most Executive Chief of the Pythian Sisters in Albany as well as a member of the Independent Benevolent Society in Albany. She had been employed as a data operator for the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance and was retired. Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Harold Canter, and sisters, Marilyn Plesser of Albany and Harriet Werner of Kingston, NY. Sister-in law of Elaine Peck of Latham, NY. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her brother, Bernie Peck. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel 649 Washington Avenue Albany, NY on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 12 noon. Interment will follow in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery in Guilderland.
