Obituary of Gerald Kotzin MD

DR. GERALD M.KOTZIN Dr. Gerald M. Kotzin, age 84 of Albany, NY died suddenly on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital after being stricken at home. Dr. Kotzin was a lifelong Albany resident. He was a graduate of the Milne School in Albany. Dr. Kotzin also graduated from Yale University and the Albany Medical College where he received his medical degree and served his residency. Dr. Kotzin practiced urology for many years in the Albany area. He had medical privileges at the Albany Memorial Hospital as well as the former Cohoes Memorial Hospital. After his retirement from private practice, Dr Kotzin became the medical director of the Greene Correctional Facility in Coxsackie until 2003. He was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and their Brotherhood. Dr. Kotzin enjoyed photography. Dr. Kotzin is survived by his wife Dorry Sims Kotzin and children, Mark Michael Kotzin (Ellen) of Clay, NY, Ilissa Kotzin Hawley ( Brian) of Niskayuna, NY, Harry Sims Kotzin (Eileen) of Albany and Ross Andrew Kotzin ( Michelle Wallock) of Albany. Grandfather of Noah and Molly Kotzin, Marin and John Hawley . Step grandfather of Daron and Claire Mathena. Services at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road in Albany on Friday , March 18, 2011 at 12 noon. Interment will follow in the Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville, NY. Those wishing to remember D r. Kotzin in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Congregation Beth Emeth. The period of mourning will be observed at the Kotzin residence, 255 Patroon Creek Blvd., Apt 2127 in Albany ,( The Alexander)Saturday , March 19th from 7-9pm with a service at 7:30pm.
