Obituary of Harold L. Swartz

HAROLD L. SWARTZ 1928-2010 Albany, NY SWARTZ Harold L. Swartz, age 82 of Tampa Avenue in Albany died on Sunday morning, November 14, 2010 at the Stratton VA.Medical Center in Albany. Born in Albany, NY, Harold was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Albany High School, class of 1946 and was an Army Veteran serving in Korea. Harold was the owner of Mikes Giant Submarines and Neba Roast Beef stores throughout the Capital District from 1967 to 1990. He had also been the owner of Harold's Office on Wolf Road from 1970 to 1995. Harold and his wife Barbara were the proprietors of Broadway Joe's of Albany in the Pepsi Arena from 2002 to 2005. He was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and had been a former board member of the Colonie Country Club. Harold is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Fienberg Swartz, and his devoted son, Paul Swartz and his wife Tracy of Clifton Park, NY He was the "pop -pop" of Joshua and Kristin Swartz. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Donna Swartz of NYC and nephew, Taube Swartz and his family of Bexley, Ohio. Harold was predeceased in 1989 by his wife Marilyn Swartz. Graveside services will be held at the Beth Emeth Cemetery on Turner Lane in Loudonville, NY on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 11:00am. Those wishing to remember Harold in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center 113 Holland Avenue Albany, NY 12208 or a charity of your choice. Friends and relatives are invited and may call at the Swartz residence, 168 Tampa Avenue in Albany ( off Berkshire Blvd) on Wednesday from 2-6pm.
