Obituary of Marian Cohen

MARIAN COHEN 1934-2010 COHEN Albany, New York Marian Saltzman Cohen, age 76 at rest after a valiant battle with breast cancer on July 9, 2010. Marian was born in Albany where she was a life resident. She had been employed over 40 years at various New York State Government Agencies, including the Governors Office and retiring as Director of Human Resources for the NYS Assembly. Marian was a member and leader of many social, religious and philanthropic organizations including Congregation Ohav Shalom and was Past National President of United Order True Sisters and was Past President of Abigail # 3 United Order True Sisters in Albany. Marian was the daughter of the late Julius and Molly Saltzman. She was the beloved wife of 56 years of Leonard M. Cohen, Loving Mother of Janice Cohen of Latham, NY, Laurence (Rabbi Eli) Cohen of Santa Cruz, California and Aaron Cohen of Albany, NY. Cherished grandmother of Jessica and Michael Mehlman. Beloved sister of Ida Privler and Sarah Siegel both of Albany, NY. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Marian was also predeceased by 2 brothers, Herman and Abie Saltzman and a sister, Martha Stagnitta. Services at Congregation Ohav Shalom 113 New Krumkill Road in Albany on Sunday July 11, 2010 at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery on Fuller Road in Guilderland, NY. In lieu of flowers those wishing to remember Marian in a special way may make a memorial contribution to U.O.T.S.
