Obituary of Veniamin Shafir

Latham, New York SHAFIR Veniamin ( Ben) Shafir, age 60 of Emerson Drive in Latham, NY died suddenly on Sunday evening May 23, 2010 at the Albany Memorial Hospital after being stricken at his home. Ben was born in Turkmenistan Soviet Union and resided in Moldova from 1973-1993. He has resided in the Capital District since 1993. While in Russia he was a petroleum engineer. For the last several years he has worked as an auto mechanic, most recently employed by G& R Auto in Delmar, NY. Ben was an avid reader and loved being with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Dizabella Shafir, 2 sons, Genard and Ruzen Shafir and a daughter, Marina Shafir all of Latham, NY. Ben was the cherished grandfather of Aryanna Shafir. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany, NY on Friday May 28, 2010 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
