Obituary of Samuel D. Weitzman

 

 

Samuel D. Weitzman, age 97 of Albany, NY died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Weitzman was born in Poland and resided for many years in the Metropolitan New York area, later moving to Rock Hill in Sullivan County. Sam resided in Florida prior to moving to Albany. He was a self-employed Certified Public Accountant and served in the Coast Guard during World War I I and was also a member of the Jewish War Veterans. Sam will be remembered as a kind and gentle man.

 

He was married to Irene Rosen Weitzman for 64 years until her passing in 2011. Sam is survived by his devoted son, Gary Weitzman ( Amy Gingold Horwitz) of Slingerlands, NY and a daughter, Suzie Lustig of Plano, Texas. He also leaves a sister, Lillian Binstok of Riverdale, NY. Grandfather of Vanessa (Dan) and Cara(Bill). 

 

Private services and interment will be held at the King Solomon Cemetery in Clifton, New Jersey. Friends are respectfully invited to call at the home of Gary and Amy, 26 Hamlet Court # 103, in Slingerlands, NY on Sunday, October 8th from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Sam in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center, 340 Whitehall Road, Albany, NY 12208 or Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany, NY 12208.
