Obituary of Jerome Lehner MD

Lehner, M.D. ORLANDO, FL - Jerome "Jerry" Lehner, M.D., age 103, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Savannah Court in Maitland. A native of Kingston, NY, he was the youngest of seven children and is the last surviving child of the late David and Bertha Rosenthal Lehner. Dr. Lehner attended local area schools and graduated from Cornell University and NYU. He did additional study at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lehner was a Board Certified ENT doctor and Ophthalmologist for many years in Poughkeepsie. Later, he practiced facial reconstruction surgery. A long time member of Temple Beth El, he participated in the choir and was also a member of the Rotary. Dr. Lehner served in the US Army during World War II, working in a London hospital. He was discharged with the rank of Major. In 2003, Dr. Lehner moved to the Orlando area. Dr. Lehner is survived by his nephews, Lee (Sheila) Lehner of Apopka FL, Edward (Lois) Lehner of NY, Robert (Lisa) Lehner of Miami FL and Stanley (Jean) Friedman of Poughkeepsie, and niece Sally (Ben) Garfinkle of Chevy Chase MD. Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17, at 3:30PM at Montrepose Cemetery in Kingston with Cantor Rena Shapiro of Temple Beth El, Poughkeepsie, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cancer Society .
