Candles
When I was a very little girl, in the apartment in Kew Garden Hills, Mamalee in her night gown whispered to me, “Jessica, do you want to make an omelette?”I can hear her voice perfectly. She led me quietly into the tiny kitchen while everyone else was still sleeping. The early morning sun is coming in through the window and I can hear the traffic in the distance. Grandma starts making the omelette and it’s heaven being together, just the two of us. There are many sweet memories, but this one is perhaps my favorite of them all.
With gratitude and love we light a candle in memory of my Mom, my children’s Grandma and Great Grandma. Mollie’s legacy is her selfless love for her family. She was generous with her time and love for each of us. She lit up at the very sight of us. With the memory of her beautiful smile and the sparkle (when we looked) in her eyes our hearts are fulll and comforted forever by her abundant love for us, all our days.
