Obituary of Kenneth Stern PhD

Stern, Kenneth PhD Albany Kenneth Stern, PhD, died Wednesday June 29, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. Professor Stern was born in New York City on February 17, 1930, the eldest son of Harry A. Stern and Sophie Zwillinger Stern. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from City College of New York , and his MA and PhD in philosophy from Yale University. He also studied philosophy at Corpus Christi College of Oxford University in Oxford, England. He taught at several colleges and universities, including NYU and Smith College, before taking a position in the Philosophy Department at the University of Albany, from which he retired in 2000. Professor Stern is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Amelia (Amy) Foell Stern and his beloved son, Jonathan Austin Stern, as well as his dear daughter-in-law, Mi Young Lee Stern. He was also the proud and loving grandfather to his beautiful granddaughters, Sophie Ariane and Shana Natalie Hava Stern. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany, NY on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery on Fuller Road in Guilderland, NY.
