Obituary of Martin Baum

BAUM Loudonville, New York. Martin L. (Pop) Baum, 86, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2010 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. He was born on April 15, 1924 in the Bronx, NY to parents, Joseph & Esther Baum. Marty graduated from Townsend Harris High School in New York City before attending the City College of New York, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. He later enlisted in the U.S. Military and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Marty worked as an electrical engineer for the majority of his life at Western Electric and for the City of New York - concentrating on the field of bridge design. He has been married to the love of his life and best friend, Anne T. Doling-Baum, for nearly 40 years. Marty is survived by his loving family that adored him and enjoyed all of his (MANY) stories, including his beloved wife, Anne; step-son Stephen Doling and step daughter-in-law, Deborah Doling of Halfmoon, NY, grandchildren, Jason (John DeCelle) Doling of East Greenbush, NY and Adam (Diane Skotnicki) Doling of Clifton Park, NY as well as close family friend Richard LaMountain; and many other friends and relatives. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue in Albany on Wednesday September 15, 2010 at 1:00pm. Interment will take place at Temple Israel Cemetery ( located on Western Avenue in Guilderland). In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Martin in a special way make make a memorial contribution to the American Heart Association or the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. Martin's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany for the care shown to Martin and our family during his stay.
