Obituary of Jesse Rosen

 

 

Scotia, NY- Jesse Alexander Rosen, 85, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 10th surrounded by his loving family at Baptist Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Jesse was born August 14, 1932 in Rotterdam, NY to the late Esther and Morris Rosen. He is the oldest of two children, and shared an active childhood with his sister Marcia.

Jesse married Gloria Pachter in 1956 and they were married for 61 years. They had a wonderful marriage, a loving family with four children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Jesse’s favorite times were when the family got together for holidays and special occasions. Jesse and Gloria loved traveling together, especially on cruises.

Jesse graduated from Draper High school and went onto serve in the Navy. He was a proud Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed traveling the world during his Naval career. After serving, he became the office manager at Wilson Freight. He completed his career at GE Research and Development Center. Jesse was highly respected by his colleagues and received numerous awards for performance and service.

Jesse was a diehard sports fan, and especially had a love for baseball. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball and was the former president of JC Little League. His love for the New York Yankees was legendary and he had enough Yankee gear to wear for every occasion. He also was known to be a demon on the slots.

Jesse loved supporting his children and grandchildren and rarely missed a game or event they were involved in. No matter where the games were, Jesse and Gloria were always in the stands in their special section, always proud fans.

In most recent years, he was considered the unofficial Baptist Bingo Champion and was elected King of Baptist. Jesse made friends wherever he went.

Jesse is survived by his wife of 61 years Gloria Rosen, and four children: Jerry Rosen (wife: Mary), Eliot Rosen (Natalie Monescalchi), Martin Rosen (wife: Eileen), and Lisa Rosen. He is also survived by his sister, Marcia Gingold (Marvin, deceased). Grandchildren: Rebecca Paludi (married to Joe Paludi), Sarah, Leanne, and Joe; and great granddaughter Vienna Paludi.


Funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 14th 2018 at 11am at Congregation Gates of Heaven (852 Ashmore Ave, Schenectady), and the burial will be immediately following at Free Jewish Cemetery, Mount Stuart Rd, Rotterdam. The family will sit Shiva at the Rosen home at 1561 Belmont Ave, Schenectady, on Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30-7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the N2 wing at Baptist for all the great care and compassion Jesse received during his stay.
